The company produces electric bicycles in three systems:

BOSCH SYSTEM
In the BOSCH system In the BOSCH system, the crank system is used and its placement in the center of gravity of the bicycle corresponds to min. for effective transmission of power to the drive and much better stability of the bicycle while riding. The reinforced housing perfectly integrated into the whole protects against mechanical damage.
There are two types of engine in the Gazelle brand. The Active Line engine with 48 Nm torque performs great in flat and hilly areas, and the Perfomace Line engine with 60 Nm torque (only available on Cityzen Speed) ideal for longer trips and more varied terrain.
The use of 4 support modes (ECO, POWER, SPORT, TURBO) will allow us to adjust the driving style regardless of the terrain and weather conditions.
The Bosch system also has Walk Assist functions. Thanks to it, we don't have to drive or push the bike up the hill. After activating this function, the bike rides 3 km / h by itself.
SHIMANO STEPS SYSTEM
Full name: Shimano Total Electric Power System.
Known for several years, but still recognized as a novelty native of Japan, a giant in the production of bicycle accessories from Shimano has gained great interest and recognition of the Gazelle brand, so that the company decided to build an electric bike on its basis. Easy to use, light and reliable, it has adapted well to the vision of Dutch engineers. The 250 W motor and 50 Nm torque is located in the central part of the bicycle where the bottom bracket is usually mounted, thanks to which it provides a better power transmission and makes the vehicle more maneuverable and easier to drive. A fairly large and legible display will not cause problems for seniors and people with sight defects.
Two batteries with 11.6 Ah and 13.9 Ah capacity are available. Thanks to the innovative E-gain system, the batteries will automatically recharge during the descent, which will allow for longer trips with one charge, while improving braking power using technology similar to engine braking in a car.
The use of three assistance modes (ECO, NORMAL, HIGH) will allow you to ride in non-urban and hilly terrain.
PANASONIC SYSTEM
In bikes with the Panasonic system, emphasis was placed on simplicity of solutions and their durability. The engine is located in the front wheel hub.
The Panasonic motor is also brushless. Thanks to this, the engine does not generate additional resistance when driving without assistance. This system supports in three modes Eco, Power and High. For each bike, we can order a battery in 3 capacity options. The batteries used in Gazelle bicycles are the latest generation lithium-ion batteries, magnesium. Its advantages are low weight (2.5 kg) and large capacity.
Every electric bicycle produced and sold in the European Union must have a speed limit of 25 km / h.
This means that after exceeding this speed the electric motor disconnects and we can only go on our own.
The exception in the offer is the Citzyen Speed model which in the Netherlands is treated as a scooter. Therefore, it requires registration and insurance.

THREE LETTERS
You can recognize the Gazelle electric bike by three letters by the model name.
The first letter (H) means hybrid, which is a bike that offers electric support.
The middle letter indicates the location of the engine in front (F) or in the middle (M).
The last letter indicates the manufacturer of the electrical system: Bosch, Shimano Steps, Impulse or Panasonic.
Hybrid M
The Gazelle electric bicycle with the engine inside is extremely efficient. These bikes are ideal for mountainous areas or very fast riding. By placing the engine close to the pedals you can enjoy excellent road traction and optimum maneuverability.
Hybrid F
The engine located in the front hub is barely audible and hidden in the front wheel. Nobody will notice that you are riding an electric bike and you will feel the breath of freedom while riding. These bikes are ideal for urban areas.
